About the business and the brief
Mr Green is a pioneer in sustainable household cleaning with a strong brand and a growing product range. Their mission is to make it obvious and effortless to clean without toxic chemicals - and the website is a central part of that mission. The brief from Mr Green was to build a digital platform that reflects the brand's sustainability commitment while driving online sales and subscription growth. Hive Creatives owned technical development, e-commerce functionality, UX optimisation and product feed management.
Challenge
Building an e-commerce platform that drives volume sales while communicating a complex sustainability story is a balancing act. The site needs to educate the visitor (why this product instead of the supermarket alternative) without slowing down the purchase flow. The product catalogue includes subscriptions, bundles and individual products - all with different pricing, stock and delivery logic. Add requirements for high traffic handling, mobile-first UX, seamless checkout, integration with external logistics and a visual identity that feels premium and sustainable - and the challenge becomes clear.
Solution
We built a custom e-commerce platform optimised for conversion, subscription management and brand experience. The product structure handles complex offer logic: individual products, bundles and subscriptions are presented clearly with their own conversion flows. Checkout is streamlined for speed (minimising abandonment) while education about materials, impact and sustainability is integrated naturally into product pages - not as a separate step. Technically the platform supports high traffic volumes, automated product feeds and external logistics integration. The design is clean, premium and image-driven - letting the products and the sustainability story reinforce each other throughout the experience.Building an e-commerce platform that drives volume sales while communicating a complex sustainability story is a balancing act.
