About the business and the brief
Footway operates in one of the most competitive e-commerce verticals in Europe: shoes and sneakers. With thousands of SKUs, high traffic volumes and customer expectations set by the biggest global players, every visit is a make-or-break moment. The brief from Footway was to build a scalable, conversion-optimised Shopify-based e-commerce platform that can handle high traffic, complex product data and a fast-moving inventory - without sacrificing speed, UX or mobile performance. Challenge
Scaling an e-commerce platform under high traffic and constant product turnover is technically demanding. Every page load matters for conversion - a single second of delay costs measurable revenue. The product catalogue contains thousands of variants with different sizes, colours and stock statuses, and the product feed needs to be structured for Google Merchant Center, Facebook and price comparison sites simultaneously. Add requirements for mobile-first UX (the majority of traffic is mobile), fast checkout flow, seamless Shopify customisation and a site speed that holds up during flash sales and seasonal peaks - and the complexity becomes clear.
Solution
We built a custom Shopify-based platform optimised for speed, scalability and conversion. The technical architecture handles high traffic volumes and complex product data without slowdowns - via optimised theme code, lazy loading, structured product feeds and a streamlined checkout flow. UX is built mobile-first throughout: clear navigation, scannable product cards, fast filter and sort and a cart flow designed to minimise abandonment. Product data is structured for automated feeds to Google, Meta and comparison channels, reducing manual work for the team.
